Retail Insider

Retail Insider Media Inc. produces Canada’s number one source for retail news and insight, featuring original stories, headlines from around the web, and in-depth analysis into the Canadian retail industry.

PROJECT

Design and develop an online media kit to position the publication to potential advertisers and develop a social media strategy to provide guidance for impactful social media content.

SERVICES

Strategic consulting, Creative design, Social media

RESULTS

The newly created media kit enabled Retail Insider to present the publication in a more formal fashion by promoting the outlet, rates and pertinent information in a manner that speaks to its target advertisers. Retail Insider’s new social media strategy defined the dos and don’ts and suggested ideas for content development to increase the publications social engagement.

Since implementing the strategy the publication has seen a 28% increase in overall unique visitors over a 12-month period which can be attributed to social media and SEO strategy which has seen the website grown in popularity.

The media kit, created by Zenergy, was a “game changer” according to Retail Insider’s Editor-in-Chief, Craig Patterson. “I had operated Retail Insider without a media kit for over four years, and it was sometimes a challenge to keep potential advertisers interested after an initial conversation. After our media kit was created and I began to distribute it, I found that most potential advertisers I spoke with were interested in working with us, to the point that we had to start a waiting list. Now, in order to weed out the requests, we’ve raised our ad prices due to increased demand. It’s clear that this trend began after we obtained a highly professional media kit by the team at Zenergy. I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending having a media kit created because in my opinion, it pays for itself quickly if you’ve got a good product to sell, and need help with messaging/credibility.”

British Council Canada

British Council Canada is the United Kingdom’s international organization for cultural relations and educational opportunities.

PROJECT

The 150th anniversary of Canada highlighted an opportunity for the British Council to reflect on the meaning of cultural relations today. Awareness was to be raised for the 2017 cultural program, About Now, using Media Relations. It explored the rich stories that could be found in the complex and prolific relationship between the UK and Canada.

WHAT WE DID

ERIK&FLOYD executed five media relations campaigns that targeted a geographically diverse range of media outlets. From Toronto-centric to national wide, the outreach executed on behalf of the British Council reached coast to coast depending on the nature and desired audience of the program.

Comprised of performance art, live music, train residencies, exhibitions, literature tours and much more, the projects celebrated the country’s milestone 150th anniversary and nurtured the cultural dialogue between the UK and Canada.

From A Colossal Wave, a digital sculpture commemorating Montreal’s 375th anniversary, to an exhibition of the Deaf, disability and Mad arts scene in our nation’s capital, ERIK&FLOYD took complex programs with many important players involved and packaged their key messages into palatable, streamlined and concise press materials, securing coverage across the country.

RESULTS

Among many media mentions over the past year, a few notable stories are the inclusion of the program Sound Journeys on CBC Radio One’s Q With John Power, A Colossal Wave on Global News Montreal and Walking Cities on CBC’s Our Vancouver.
